Tried some fishing at the beach out by Ormond by the Sea. Sunday morning around 9:00am to 12:00. It was a calm out going tide and blazing hot. We tried fishing in the deep close to shore areas using some peeled shrimp and sand fleas we caught. The fleas did alright at first we caught one whiting then they just stopped. So we decided to wade out to the sand bar about 200 feet off the shore. Tossed my line out got a hit in the first 3 mins. So I make the 200 foot walk back to shore dragging the poor fish(so i thought) with me. After I got to shore i reeled him in thinking this isn't a whiting.. maybe a Sail cat or shark, got him to shore and it was a 20 inch sand shark. Thats all we caught 1 Whiting, 1 Sand shark.. BLEH! oh well had fun fishing with my father.

Marcus - have you ever gone on out to the artificial reefs placed by the Port Authority? It's a ways out there, but a good habitat for a variety.

I've heard of it, but have never fished it. Unfortunately it will be a while before i can get back on a boat.
